Fueling the B-17

 The B-17 had three main fuel tanks in each wing in the inboard sections and nine small fuel tanks in the outboard sections with a total fuel load of 2,780 gallons of high octane aviation fuel. It carried thousands of rounds of fifty caliber ammunition. It had an internal oxygen supply. Max bomb load of a B-17G was 13,600 lbs. |
